Abstract Because of the fact that the cooling rates are much greater in the case of nonstationary thermal field by welding, in report to the quasistationary thermal field, generally speaking, the welding procedures specifications established for normal welding, repair welding with short raws need special welding procedures. Some solutions for the special repair welding procedures are presented.

Abstract This article presents the consumption of filler materials (wire and gas) in 2-wire Tandem MAG robot welding, as compared to SAW + MAG welding of 12 mm thick X52 MS steel plates. The analysis was performed on horizontal butt welds with Y-joints (unilaterally with 2 and 3 welding seams) and X-joints (with two bilateral seams). The joints were achieved using a welding robot, with a two-wire Tandem MIG / MAG welding head, supplied by two welding sources, with the possibility of programming all the welding parameters (Is, Ua, Vas,) for each filler material wire, as well as of the welding speed, Vs. The experiments were conducted by positioning the welding head so as to obtain welding seams, once with the wires placed one after the other (tandem), or alternatively across (perpendicular on the welding direction), obtaining, through correlation with the welding speed, optimal linear energies and, implicitly, seams of different widths and degrees of penetration.

All the experience and the knowledge about MIG/MAG welding, which has been collected with the TPS and the CMT technology, has been put into the new system. Besides the introduction of new technologies like PMC (PULS Multi Control) and LSC (Low Spatter Control) some brand new features like “arc stabilization control” and “short arc control” have been implemented into the new system. Rezumat This paper presents the evolution of the “WELDING” specialization at “Transylvania” University of Braşov, occasioned by the graduation of the 35th class. Starting from the recognition of the place of origin and initial development of the specialization at the “Polytechnic” University of Timişoara in 1952/1953, it depicts, gradually the initiation, evolution and achievements obtained in Braşov since its establishment in 1977/1978, at the same time with the beginning of the activity in the Universities of Bucharest and Galati.
